By Helen Hecker It's one thing to write a book, but an entirely different thing to write one that's saleable, viable, and marketable. With careful planning you can market, promote, and get (free) publicity (publicity is always free) on a limited budget; you can take the cheap and easy way. In today's publishing environment, a book's success depends greatly on a strong marketing plan. Using press releases can be a very effective marketing tool if used properly. Your book press release should not be written as you would a sales letter or flier, it should be written for the editor and tell about your book in a factual way, no opinion or glowing remarks. Learning to write and use powerful optimized press releases can often drive tons of traffic to your website while providing multiple back links that can lead to increased page rank and numerous top ten search engine rankings for your targeted keywords. Send out the same press release to the editor of your local daily newspaper every week until you are called for an interview or are written up. Make sure your press release spells out the 'who, what, where, when, and why.' Using press releases for marketing or promoting your book or book's website has become increasingly popular as publishers discover the powerful benefits of using press releases. Press releases can generate thousands of dollars in sales when picked up by national trade or print media. Send out at least 10 press releases to the print and broadcast media in your area every month. Make sure your sales letter or flier is first class; this is your formal presentation of your title to the prospective buyer. When you get a nice write up or feature about you and/or your book, have it laminated and set it up on an easel at trade shows. Print and online publications provide longevity to your marketing campaign in terms of having something tangible for people to reference ongoing. Your sales letter or flier should include an eye-grabbing headline, the benefits to the buyer, the book features, book sales information and testimonials. Women buy more books then men; see how you can fit your book into the women's market. Place free ads periodically for your book's website on Craigs List in different categories to drive even more traffic to your website. It's important to publish a website that focuses on your title; you'll be able to refer editors and customers and all interested parties to your book information with the click of a mouse. Submit articles to online article directories that focus on your book's topic to drive customers to your website. Create an online contest and list it in online contest directories to drive traffic to your website. Market your book to your number one market first, and then go after the secondary markets. Remember to make sure your book is listed in Books-in-Print; don't assume it's already listed. Contact non-bookstore booksellers and offer to leave books on consignment. Arrange to speak at local, regional and national events that relate to your book topic; bring books along and have an associate sell them at the back of the room. Local radio shows and television appearances are good but are often forgotten within hours of the broadcast; make sure to make or get a copy of any television broadcast for future promotions. Make sure not to overlook the Internet; get yourself interviewed or profiled for sites both about writing, publishing and about the topics covered in your book. Be your own publicist and send a press release along with a review copy of your book to publications in your book's genre and to book review magazines. The success of any book marketing effort depends on a good book and just plain hard work; its been done many times before and you can do it too. If you apply yourself every day and you promote your book like crazy, you can achieve that ultimate goal of selling thousands of copies of your book, many self publishers have. One of the biggest problems self publishers and book publishers tell me about is the hundreds of books they have in inventory they haven't set up a marketing plan for; don't let this happen to you -- get prepared now. Creating a Holiday Scrapbook
By Audrey Okaneko Throughout the year we have both religious holidays and also secular holidays. I remember as a kid our family always spent the fourth of July with some friends of my parents. I have very fond memories of this family and actually remember their home and some of the various years we spent with them. Depending on how many photos you take, you can either create a few small 6x6 albums, one for each holiday, or you can create one large 12x12 album and call it Holidays of (fill in year). I have found many stickers, diecuts and even pre-made kits for every holiday. I love to add these items to my holiday scrapbooks. I also love to color theme holiday books, such as red, white and blue for the fourth of July, or orange and brown for both Thanksgiving and Halloween. If you buy invitations or receive an invitation to a holiday get together, save the invitation for your scrapbook. I also love to put recipes into the holiday albums. Many families have family recipes they serve only for specific holidays. Capture those in your scrapbook pages and share them for generations to come. Of course, people make the celebration. Take plenty of photos of the people attending the celebration. Take both group shots and also individual shots. Take photos of the buffet table before everyone eats. If the holiday is a gift giving holiday, or gift giving celebration, save a little bit of the wrapping paper and ribbon to add to your scrapbook. Today, preserving memories is as simple as attaching photos and memorabilia to a scrapbook page. Audrey Okaneko has been scrapbooking for several years. Islam is More Than Just a Religion
By Lance Winslow Although many consider Islam a religion, indeed it is much more than that, as it is a way of life. Some have actually considered that point as well and even the devout say that it is more than a religion, more like a complete "operations manual" for those who follow it, to live their lives while on said planet. And in saying this, I am sure many will agree. Although political correctness tells me to hold short of saying how messed up some of the customs and cultural traditions are, merely because I am not of that culture. Indeed each culture has different views of how to live their lives and there are as diverse as there are cultures. Some say the writings of Islam do not make much sense, as other civilizations of humans, which have adopted more progressive approaches have far surpassed Islam and thus it appears that they have lost that Islam has lost their battle with the claim that it is the best way to live. This is because they have less in every regard than do other civilizations on the planet and for the most part many Middle Eastern countries are living back in the stone ages compared to other first world nations around the world. Too bad really, worse off most of Islam does not wish to join the rest of the world, but rather change the rest of the world to fit Islam. Indeed that is not a positive step for humankind, as it means a continuous clash of civilizations. Of course personally I find fault with all religions on the planet and with the tales they the purport, as they do not jive with the observational realities of the known world in the present period and they are all holding back the human race in some regard. What are your thoughts on that? Perhaps we might consider all religions and the ramifications of their rule. "Lance Winslow" - Online Think Tank forum board. How to Make your own Aftershave
By John Gibb With all those commercials, brand names, fashion designer names and hype about the various aftershave products on the market its almost impossible that you havent noticed the rush among the various brands to conquer the aftershave market. But, is it really such a big issue or the whole thing about aftershaves is overrated? Is it possible that you could just forget about all of that and get your job done using just materials that you will find inside your home? It turns out that sometimes it is better to ignore all that hype and just do what your instinct tells you; try to be as natural as possible. In this article i will talk about 2 good aftershave recipes that you can do in just a few minutes inside your home. I have tried them both and i can say that I was more than satisfied and impressed with the result. For the first aftershave you need : Half a cup of distiller water
Quarter a cup of witch hazel
1 tbsp of olive oil
And half a cup of dried herbs (this can be chamomile, rosemary, lavender flowers etc). Additionally, you might use a few drops of clove, cinnamon, sage, eucalyptus etc. After you have collected the materials you should put them all together inside a glass jar. You should place the jar in a cool, dark place so it can steep. For the next 2 weeks you should shake the jar two times a day. Then, after 2 weeks you should strain out everything and store the aftershave in a bottle of your choice. For the second aftershave you need: Half a cup of hazel
2 tbs of dried chamomile
And 2 tbs of vodka After you have those materials, you need to repeat the same process from the first recipe. The second aftershave is quite different from the first one. Its up to you to add variations to the recipe and to choose witch is the best for you. You can always experiment with new dried herbs or tweak the dosage a little bit. As you can see, its really easy to create your own aftershave.
Apart from saving money off overpriced products, you are also doing something creative that will more than satisfy you. Finally, home-made aftershaves can be a perfect way for a woman to show a man that she actually cares for him. Personalized gifts are always a pleasure to receive, especially when they come from the other sex. John Gibb is the owner of aftershave guides

How To Have A Great Dinner Party
By Fred Henderickson This article will explore what need to be done to have a great dinner party. Whether it's a big shin ding or a small quiet gathering, there are some fundamentals that need to be planned to make sure
that the evening goes off without a hitch. We'll explore them in a number of parts - 1) Some simple maths. How many people are coming?
Did you invite 2 people or 12 people?
Will your guests bring some welcome, but unexpected, people too?
Knowing the number of people, even as a rough guide, helps to plan things better. 2) What's to eat? If you are planning a BBQ, and it's bring your own, the preparedness needed is different to a more
formal setting, where the food and drink is provided by the hosts. Do you have enough to go around,
remembering whether extra people may marterialize. Whether yes or no, do you have the resources and
the time to cater for your expected guests. Also, when considering the menu, are some of your guests allergic, or sensitive, to some foods. It may be
peanuts, that the person is a diabetic, or a vegetarian. Is there a alternative food or drink that may be
offered, and if yes, then does this hinder your plan for preparing the food and drink? 3) Where's every one going to sit? This may sound silly, but if you invited the local football team, and there is only a four seat dinner table,
will every one sit on the floor? Of course, this depends on who is coming, as well as how many. If it is your
sister and husband, and their kids, there's no drama in bringing out the fold out card table, and having a 'grown-ups' table,
and a kids table (saves some head aches for the adults), but if the Queen of England is coming, then I am sure she
wouldn't be amused to be sitting on the floor. 4) Do you have the time? Do you expect to knock off work, Tuesday, at 6pm and have every one arrive at 7pm? Will that give you enough time
to cook the food and drink, and be ready? What time will every one go home, 10pm or 2am. Will you be awake Wednesday
morning for work? This can make for a rushed event, and problems aplenty. Maybe a Saturday afternoon is better,
4pm to 8pm-ish, is better with Sunday for wind down. 5) Remember the mess. Hosting a event is not a clean affair. That's not to say there'll be muddy elephants tramping through your abode,
but everyone likes to put on their best front. Is the house clean, or will it need to be tidied prior to the event?
If the sister's children are invited, will they wreck havoc? A late finish, can mean more time than the fun bits to
get things back to normal, or it is left to tomorrow, making your lovely evening a two day event. 6) Make a plan. Have a rough, and I'll re-emphasis the word rough, as to how you would like the evening to unfold. A good plan is for
light refreshments, and a chat, for about 1/2 hour, followed by the main meal of about an hour, followed by a wind down drink,
and farewells of about 1/2 hour, making for a 2 hour scenario. Now times by 1.5, to get 3 hours (of entertaining, not counting preparing
and clean up, which is triple the estimate) as a guide. And the big rule - be prepared to through your schedule out the window. 7) Set out a basic step by step guide. Take a blank sheet of paper, and make a pointed guide as to what to do and when, e.g. when to go shopping, a list of what to buy,
when to start cooking, and cleaning, when you hope to see the guests arrive and when to sit down to eat. And importantly, allocate
tasks to some responsible people, it's not just your job. Your other half will surely pitch in to make things go twice as fast. 8) Have some conversation, or activity ideas. Don't get me wrong, don't force the evening, but have some back up things to talk about, or activities, if worse comes to worse, like the
guest of honor arriving late, or the chicken that is taking it's sweet time to cook. What are you guests interested in, have you seen my new jigsaw,
Picasso painting, 3 speed whipper snipper, are all time favorites. If children are present, what will they be doing? Are there amusements/distractions for them?
May be that new jigsaw is the answer? 9) Don't Panic. This is really important - DO NOT PANIC, it's just a dinner party. Relax, it's supposed to be a good time. Remember, things go wrong sometimes,
as in life learn to see the funny side, and if all else fails - LAUGH. 10) Smile You're having a good time, aren't you? These 10 points are designed to ask the questions, and hopefully provide some answers, as to having a great dinner party. Sometimes we are caught
up in the moment, and don't think things through. By following this article and asking some tough questions, and providing some answers, that next get together
will be something to remember for all the right reasons. Fred Henderickson is an acclaimed recipist, and has been involved in food and catering industry for most of his adult life. His great collection

Secured Loan Occupies Lion Share In The UK Loan Market
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Kirthy_S]Kirthy S Applying for loans is quite inevitable in today's competitive world. Man's unlimited wants and need for expansion be it business, home improvement or to simply fund one's own education abroad would push him to apply for loans. Secured loan has a wider loan market in UK and one can get easy approval for secured loans with a collateral laid. A homeowner with any employment status ranging from self-employed to unemployed has an equal chance of securing loans for they have a sound collateral or equity to back their needs. Why is secured loan a popular choice of homeowner? -Secured loans are easily approved than an unsecured loan. -The loan rates are minimal due to the 'no-risk factor' faced by the lender. APR or interest rate can be as low as 6% based on your circumstances. For instance, if a borrower is with bad credits your loan rate might be higher than the one with good credit. -Any amount of damaged credits can still qualify for loans. Such loans overlooks a homeowner's CCJ, payment defaults, foreclosures etc. Gives a chance to that borrower, who is otherwise denied of loans due to adverse credits. -In addition to this, one can even encash on his equity. Raise loan amount ranging up to 125% of one's property. - A collateral is co-related to the loan amount. High value collateral allows a larger amount loan and a longer repayment term. -Allows a homeowner to free up equity and raise capital to under take home improvements and further add value to the dormant equity itself. It is precisely these benefits that have been conducive in increasing the popularity of secured loan. Today, secured loan occupies a lion share in the uk loan market. One such competitive secured loan rate and an in depth understanding of secured loan can be gained from [http://www.secure-loan-uk.co.uk]www.secure-loan-uk.co.uk Get easy and fast secured loan - [http://www.secured-loans-direct.co.uk/cheap_secured_loan.html]cheap secured loans

Introduction To Fishing
By Ron King The Thrill Of The Catch If you haven't fished before, you don't know what you're missing. If you did, you would be a fisherperson. Not only does it bring you closer to nature, there's the thrill of the catch. Imagine standing on the bank of a stream on a beautiful day, your rod bending under the weight of a good catch. This one's a fighter and you take your time, allowing the fish to tire itself out before reeling it to shore. When you finally land it, you realize you've just caught the biggest fish of your life. It's a great feeling and 1 you'll never know until you give fishing a try. Learning How To Fish Now that I have your interest, perhaps you realize that you don't have a clue how to go about fishing. Well, that's what I'm here for. If you want to learn to fish, here are 5 easy ways: * Ask a family member or friend who is an experienced angler to take you along the next time they go fishing -- they will be thrilled to have a new fishing buddy * Research online -- there are hundreds of websites with instructions on fishing gear, bait, and fishing tips * Go to your local library and check out how-to fishing books and magazines * Check your local conservation or wildlife service -- they often hold a fishing day where beginners can learn the basics of fishing. * If you go on vacation in fishing country (which is darn near anywhere), check with local fishing stores -- they often know local professionals who will teach you how to fish. When To Go Fishing Anytime is a good time to fish; you never know what you might catch. Some species are more active near dawn and dusk when they are feeding, while others will bite any time of the day. Certain times of the year are best for certain species. Fishing is a pastime you can enjoy all year round. Getting Your License Fishing licenses are required in most places, which you can buy at fishing tackle stores or Conservation and Wildlife Centers. The cost varies by location. Licenses for children are usually not required. If you want to fish on private property, be sure to get permission from the owner. Otherwise it is trespassing. Pack Up And Head Out If you've read this far, it may be a sign you're getting interested in fishing. Just follow the above instructions and soon you will be enjoying your favorite new hobby. Visit Fishing to learn more. Ron King is a full-time researcher, writer, and web developer. Copyright 2005 Ron King. This article may be reprinted if the resource box is left intact.
